The Middle Kenai River is the section that flows out of Skilak Lake in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge toward the towns of Sterling and Soldotna. The river here is much wider with less gradient than the Upper. This is where many target the elusive “trophy” rainbow trout. It is possible to run into your fish of a lifetime here.

We offer 10 hour full day trips for this section of river. This section is not drift only, however true to the soul of drift only fishing, we do not run a motor. There is approximately 1 hour of rowing time on Skilak lake at the beginning of the trip, followed by a full day of exciting angling. The trip ends at Bing’s Landing State Recreation site in Sterling.

We will meet at either Lower Skilak Lake boat launch or Bing’s Landing for Middle River trips. There will be directions to these locations with your reservation confirmation.
